I made Robert in August of 2023. I love him.
The assignment was a mobile scultpure with any medium, and then photograph it in 20 different places.
Robert is quite a lover of the arts.
It's purpose was to explore how art interacted with it surrroundings and changed an enviorment.
I wanted to make a haggard, worn personification of death. I was thinking about death's contant, though presently harmless, looming.
And through my ruminations on the inevitibility of death, Robert was born!
I welded his frame, and his internals consist of wood, metal, much cardboard and ductape, paper machet forming of the torso, and a foam head I carved, then draped with a sheet.
Robert stands about 5' 6" tall and has lived with me since. First on my old front porch, now in my living room.
He dresses for the seasons!
I've made many different renditions of Robert.
